The Client
State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General
The Challenge
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) dedicated to improving interoperability and patients´ access to health information invested billions to promote the adoption and use of electronic health records (EHRs) through the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs. Through the New York State Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, eligible professionals (EPs) and eligible hospitals (EHs) in New York who adopted, implemented, or upgraded certified EHR technology (CEHRT), and subsequently became meaningful users of CEHRT, could qualify for and receive financial incentives.
The Solution
Garnet River conducted post-payment audits to verify provider eligibility and EHR technology usage, identifying potential recoupment of fees through data and documentation review.
The Impact
The client ensured compliance with CMS eligibility requirements, guaranteeing that EHR technology investments supports patient care effectively into the future.
