Case Study

The Practice
Human Resources

The Client
A large design, construction and manufacturing firm in the Albany/Capital District of NY

The Challenge
The organization had been in business for over 50 years, slowly increasing staff and the size of the business without ever having a full time HR role to support and manage the growth. The HR role was one that was assigned part time to a member of the Administrative Support group and had no strategic or staff development/support initiatives afforded to the role. The goal was to assess the need and develop the right Human Resources solution for an organization of 120 employees both locally and nationally at active job sites.

The Solution
Take on a part time Human Resources on site role for 4 – 6 months and assess what the role is, what the role should be and develop a strategy to engage the Management team in supporting the critical role that HR should play.

The Impact
A full assessment of current HR policies and procedures was undertaken. A Job Description was developed of the HR role that was needed to support the organization. A search was conducted, and a full time HR Manager was hired to fill the role. A transition occurred for 2 additional months with our HR support team and ultimately a hand off took place.

Since that time the new HR Manager has developed programs to support the management team; overcome a hiring backlog; created a new on boarding plan; developed new solutions for administrative tasks and has ultimately gained the respect of the organization as a key member of the growing organization.
